It's hard to put into words how difficult and heart-breaking infertility and pregnancy loss can be. It is understandably that these experiences can deeply impact relationships and mental health. If you are going through this, it’s important to know that you are not alone. At Decades Counseling, we provide specialized support for individuals and couples facing these difficult times.

Understanding the Emotional Impact

Infertility affects approximately 10-15% of couples globally, according to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Pregnancy loss occurs in 10–20% of known pregnancies, according to the Mayo Clinic. These statistics underscores how common the struggle is, yet it often feels isolating.  The grief and stress associated with infertility and loss can lead to feelings of sadness, anxiety, depression, and relationship strain.

If you are struggling and need more support than you are able to offer yourself, counseling might be the right place for you.

How Counseling Can Help

1. Emotional Support: A counselor provides a safe space where you can express your feelings and fears without judgment. This validation and understanding can be incredibly comforting.

2. Coping Strategies: Learn techniques to manage stress, anxiety, and depression. This might include mindfulness practices, cognitive-behavioral therapy, polyvagal theory, or other evidence-based methods.

3. Strengthening Relationships: Infertility can put a strain on relationships. Counseling can help improve communication and support between partners.

4. Grief Counseling: If you’ve experienced a loss, specialized grief counseling can help you navigate the complex layers of your emotions and find a path to healing.

5. Empowerment: Gain a sense of control by setting goals and exploring all available options. Begin finding peace with life's different paths.

Don't be afraid to reach out and get help. Sitting in isolation while dealing with loss can be so devastating. Whether it's us as Decades, or another great practice, many counselors are here to help.
